I write fiction about the ordinary, funny and complicated ways people love and look after one another, and about the stories families tell to make sense of it all.
In this book, the stories start small: an old yarn from a Christmas table, a family in-joke thrown around at a barbecue, the story someone tells for the fortieth time and nobody minds. I have changed the names, sewn up the seams, and tried to keep what made each one worth remembering.
I write plainly. I would rather find the exact, slightly funny detail than reach for something grand, and I trust readers to notice the rest.
Away from the page, my day job is in technology and business systems. The writing is a separate thing.
